What you need
- 6 sheets of white A4 paper
- Pencil
- Coloured Pencils
- Scissors
- A Ruler
- Glue
Step 1 - Make the headband
1. Cut a sheet of A4 paper in half (horizontally) and glue together with a 2cm overlap to make a long strip like the image below. This is the headband.
Put the strip around your head to see if it fits. You may need to add another strip if it doesn’t fit.
2(a). Lay your headband flat. Get a sheet of A4 paper, landscape and place it on the centre of the headband, making sure that the bottom edges are lined up.
(b) Now tilt the right side of the sheet of paper 8cm up on the headband. Make sure the left corner is still meeting the bottom edge of your headband.
(C) Use the image below to help you. Glue the paper in position and set it aside. This will be the base of your headpiece.
Step 2-Decorating your headpiece
3. Get a another sheet of A4 paper, landscape, draw a big crescent moon and a five point star. Inside the crescent moon and star draw an Islamic pattern. You can copy the pattern I did or choose another.
4. Colour and cut your crescent moon and star. Keep aside.
5. Draw two 12cm circles and inside draw an Islamic pattern.
6. Colour and cut them out and keep aside.
7. Draw three different sizes of lanterns. You will need three large lanterns, two medium sized lanterns and three small sized lanterns.
Follow the sizes in the image below to help you.
8. Using off cuts of paper you have, draw three different sizes of 8 point stars. Follow the sizes in the image below.
9. Colour and cut the lanterns and stars. Keep aside.
Step 3 -Assembling your headpiece
10. Stick the crescent moon and the star in the middle of the base of the headpiece.
11. Stick the circles so that just over half of the circle is off the headband and 14cm apart (7cm from the centre on either side) so they look like big earings.
12. Stick a small lantern on the centre bottom of the headband so that the bottom tip is below the headband.
13. Stick one large, one medium and one small lantern on the left side of the headpiece. I started with the large lantern at the bottom and the small at the top.
14. Stick different sized stars in the gaps. Make sure you do not over crowd it.
15. On the right side, stick two large lanterns, one medium lantern and one small lantern.
- Fill the gaps with stars on the right side.
WELL DONE!
